Let's not forget that Front and Rear reflectors count as "lights" by law.

Really?

Well for the purposes of this poll,..a light means a "light",..not a reflector.

Yes reflectors are the minimum you need by law.
I have rear and front lights for just one of my bikes, and reflectors for the other.

the HCC website quotes the nova scotia traffic laws for bicycles as :

"Every bicycle shall be equipped with a lighted lamp on the front thereof visible under normal atmospheric conditions from a distance of at least 100 metres in front of the bicycle and shall also be equipped with a reflex mirror or lamp on the rear exhibiting a red light visible under like conditions from a distance of at least 60 metres to the rear of such bicycle."

sounds like a front "lighted lamp" and a rear reflector are minimum the requirements.
keep on pedaling and try not to fly off the handlebar

I ride with my multiple lights on both day and night. Usually two headlight, both on strobe, and two taillights, one on the bike, one on the bag.

Last Saturday I almost got left hooked on Chebucto Road. I didn't have my headlights on...

Drivers REALLY see the double strobe light.. it kinda looks like a miniature cop-car.
Take the LANE! (when its safe to do so, or really necessary to ensure you don't get doored..)

I use both too. Just got a new LED flashing light for my head. one of the little ones. It's easier to haul around than my Light and Motion fro the MTB. I even put reflective tape on my road bike for when i get caught in the dark after socializing after a ride.

I think at night I'm a christmas tree with the reflector on my commuter.

I ride 2-3 days a week from the beginning of April to mid or late November. My commute is over 40k each way and I usually leave at 5:30 in the morning so I use my lights alot. I have two flashing tail lights, one on the bike and one on the back of my helmet. I use one or two headlights and I have a headlamp on my helmet. I find there is a lot of back scatter from the helmet light so I just use it on the strobe mode when I get to town. It also gives me something to use when I need to fix flats, dig through my bags for food, or fight off grizzlies on the St. Margaret's Bay Trail!
